At Home Pamper Day for Cold Weather

Wednesday, November 5, 2014

The weather is changing & it never fails that my skin & hair become excessively dry this time each year. I also suffer from more breakouts during the winter months as a result of the dryness. Something i've been dealing with recently is a very dry scalp which i'm so not used to, especially since I only wash my hair 3 times a week. After a recent conversation with a friend about skincare & the benefit of moisturizing, I decided to prepare an at home pamper day to help my skin & hair out. My routine, products & prices are all listed below! How do you pamper yourself at home?
I start the pamper routine out by removing all eye makeup with my Almay Eye Makeup Remover ($6.49). I use this product on a cotton ball, first pressing into the lash area then gently rubbing away all eye makeup until gone.
Next I use the Olay Pro-X brush ($21.67) with the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Exfoliating Scrub ($6.49). This takes away all makeup left on the skin (the brush is always brown with makeup after so I know it works great.)
Rinse clean with warm water & dab skin with dry towel.
I then applied the Mud Pac Dead Sea face mask for anti-stress ($2.49).
I kept the product on for 30 minutes while I made warm tea in my favorite mug.
After rinsing the mask off of my skin with warm water, I applied moisturizer.
I've been using the Up & Up brand of facial moisturizer ($7.99) which contains salicylic acid to help with breakouts, but this day I opted for a moisturizer sample I had. I used the Hada Labo facial hydrator & skin tightener ($17.99).
I use the Garnier Eye firming cream around my delicate eye area (12.39)
I then slathered on my Pajama Paste (which i typically sleep in) ($20) & started in on some hair therapy.

As mentioned, my hair (specifically my roots/scalp) has been excessively dry lately, so I knew i'd be deep conditioning it.
I washed my hair with Victoria's Secret Total Volume Shampoo ($14) & then applied the L'Oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm ($6.99). When deep conditioning, I typically focus on the ends & work it through my hair. Since my dryness was coming from the roots, I chose to work the deep conditioner into the scalp as well. I left the conditioner in for about 10 minutes then rinsed clean. It made a huge difference. My scalp was way less dry after (thankfully!) While i waited for the conditioner to work its magic, I painted my nails my favorite fall color. Essie Bahama Mama ($7.99).

So there you have it--A pamper routine you can do at home once the cold weather takes a toll on your skin & hair. Additions to this list could include making chai tea or hot chocolate in your favorite mug while you wait for you face mask to dry, watching your favorite series on Netflix while your conditioner settles, dancing around to Feelin' Myself by Will.I.Am in your robe, etc. Whatever it is, just remember to make time for yourself. A little bit of pampering goes a long way & your body will thank you for it.
In the words of L'Oreal, you're worth it.
